Two old souls reunite by chance and discover what evil drove them apart... and is still lurking.

Nora Hutchinson has had feelings of déjà vu throughout her life. After her recent move to Boston for college, these feelings have suddenly become an everyday occurrence, taking on a new form by invading her dreams and nightmares. After chance meetings with two familiar strangers, Nora is lured into a task she never could have imagined. As she tries to sort out her dreams from her memories, she is pulled into the middle of an ancient quest she never dreamed could be possible.

Reminiscence is based on an old Platonic theory with a supernatural twist, and weaves in history, romance, and intrigue in an urban fantasy setting. Discover the Statera Saga today!

“Reminiscence” is a philosophical novel. If there are fights, duels, devils, dreams and dashing heroes, conflagrations, murders, fancy balls and sudden turns of events, still it remains at heart a philosophical treatise. Herein is examined: classical concepts of the elements, the platonic theory of Knowledge as Memory, and especially the balance of spirit and memory we call Human Identity.

God that was fun to say.

Because it’s true, and entirely unimportant. “Reminiscence” does indeed dig into dead concepts buried in the hard-back western philosophy cemetery. And who cares? This is an adventure about a girl named Nora, finding out who she is, why she dreams bloody dreams, who’s the handsome stranger haunting her, what the hell is the creature who wants her dead. Keep your platonic caves! And give us dreams of ancient loves and loss, a handsome Darcy, a demonic nemesis, and hints of ancient mystery. Heck, throw in world-threatening apocalypse, why not.

Okay, that was fun to say, too.

But the world-shelves are stocked with formula romance/mysteries with dark cliché and handsome-devils. “Reminiscence” is on a different shelf. Besides what it slyly tells us about Balance (Statera is an old word for ‘balance scale’; and yes that will be on the test), we have a heroine who is more than a stuffed-bodice in peril. We have Nora.

She is no ‘80s style perky I-Save-Myself super-heroine; nor the 21st century retro-princess-needing-rescue. She is a young woman with a kind heart and open mind. She is haunted by déjà vu, terrified by a lurking evil, and drawn to an ancient heart-breaking romance. She attracts protectors, friends you cheer as they stand with her. Still, she wonders who to trust. You wonder too, but it’s her call. And you feel that she’s the right one to decide. Nora has an inner balance keeping her standing in a storm of mad memories, sudden craziness. She must remember who she is. But that is more than the sum of her memories. Nora is on a quest not to remember her identity, but also decide it.

Amy Marie gives us a great heroine, wacky-but-brave friends, suspicious strangers, seriously evil villain. The narrative style finds the balance between immediate adventure, and a vision of a grand, thought-provoking quest. The friends and foes she gathers on the way, make… a Profound Philosophical Essay. Nah, teasing. They make a great story.

Reminiscence: a thoughtful novel with references to all kinds of secret ancient lost wisdom, yet doesn't cloy with philosophy or metaphysics. It is a heroine finding her balance, not to mention finding an ancient young love who kisses her hand. Which is not a plot that gets old no matter the number of incarnations.

We look forwards to the rest of the series!

Reminiscence Statera Saga Book 1 eBook Amy Marie Reviews

My favorite subjects...history, science, and spirituality...are all in this book. The intrigue and suspense kept the pages turning. As an Ohio resident, I do appreciate the mention of this great state.
Classic good vs evil tale with a wonderfully fresh perspective. Finished it in one sitting and immediately bought book 2! Definitely looking forward to watching this author grow.
Very well written and a page turner. Loved the deja vu and the development of the storyline. Can't wait to read the next one!
As an avid reader, I love finding books that leave me wanting more. This is most certainly one of those books. Not only is it an easy read, it is also one I found myself reaching for whenever I had a spare moment. I loved envisioning the story as it unfolded beautifully on each page. There wasn't a moment where I lost interest and decided to skip over a paragraph or two. There is an easy connection to the characters and an inherent pull for good to overcome evil. This was beautifully and brilliantly written.
I just finished this book and I'm dying for the next one to come out! I love a good trilogy. I read this book while on the plane and it was a welcome distraction from the long and exhausting flight. Amy did a fabulous job of keeping my attention and keeping me wondering what was coming next. This book is the perfect combination of romance, action and mystery.
I was captured by the second chapter. Ami Marie has woven a tale that draws you in and you can't wait to read the next page. Loved the characters. Ami Marie you are now on my list of favorite authors.
Can't wait to read the next book.
Recommended to all.
What a great story! This book is easy to read yet has a lot of depth for those who choose to read between the lines. This is an epic good versus evil story that takes you on a mysterious journey that intertwines history, suspense, action and touch of romance (another reasons I enjoyed this book is because I consider the romance as mild flirting and clean). You can't help but admire Nora as she is a modern day heroine that amplifies honor, duty and respect in a way that makes it hard to put the book down. The ending certainly is a cliffhanger and I can't wait for book two! I highly recommend this book and although I am 55 years old I think it would appeal to readers of all ages.
